The residential development at Graywood lies to the southwest of St Charles, with homeowners enjoying the use of a sports club that features a fitness centre, floodlit tennis courts and an aquatic complex. Golfing residents have the use of the 18-hole course at Gray Plantation Golf Club and this facility is also open for non-member play.

Described as “a delicate mix of Southern charm and Cajun fire,” this Rocky Roquemore design is routed around sixty acres of lakes, with water in play at twelve of the tree-lined holes. The 168-yard 6th is regarded as the signature hole, playing across the Calcasieu River to a shallow green that’s fronted by an intimidating pot bunker.

The 165-yard 17th is another fabulous par three, calling for a precise tee shot to a three-tiered peninsula green that will punish any vestige of wayward play. The round at Gray Plantation then concludes with a very tough par four – measuring all of 460-yards from the back tees – where fairway bunkers threaten the tee shot and greenside traps protect the home green.
