The property on which the course at Golfpark Zürichsee is laid out was formerly a gravel quarry for the Swiss company KIBAG who specialize in building materials and construction. Peter Harradine was tasked with fashioning nine holes across the old mining area and the initial course at what was then called Nuolen Golf Park opened for play on 14th June 1998. Twenty years later, after Kurt Rossknecht had added another nine holes, the new 18-hole incarnation of the golf course was unveiled to the golfing public.

The course now extends to 6,200 metres from the back tees, with par set at 72 (35 out then 37 in). Water comes into play at almost half the holes on the scorecard, particularly on the front nine where only holes 4 to 6 are free of any aquatic influence. Interestingly, on the shorter front nine, holes of the same par are never played consecutively with a configuration of three par fours, three par fours and three par fives.

Highlight holes include short par fours at the 321-metre 7th and the 319-metre 11th; the tough left doglegging par five 8th (as ponds threaten both the tee shot and the approach to the green); the 167-metre 15th (which is the only par three on the back nine); and the 370-metre closing hole, where a lone bunker protects the front right of the offset home green.
